Wow. It's been a looong time since I've updated. Happy holidays and new year, everyone! This is partly because of vacation and stuff, but also for another reason. I regret to say that I'm probably going to have to abandon this account and lj itself. I've been under a lot of stress lately, with school, family, friends, and a lot of other things. Livejournal seems to sap up a lot of the time that I know I should be using for other reasons. I might update once in a while, but I won't be as obsessed as I used to be by a long run.
I'm sorry to everyone who's friended me and been so nice. If anyone who doesn't know me in real life wants to keep in touch, put a comment with your e-mail address or sn here and I'll e-mail you or IM back. Sorry again. Bye for now, everyone.

OH MY GOD.
Ella Enchanted, a book that was once upon a time my favorite, is being made into a movie with a cool cast including Anne Hathaway, from The Princess Diaries; Cary Elwes, from The Princess Bride(!); Parmindar Nagra, from Bend it Like Beckham, and ERIC IDLE!
AAAAAAAH!! Tell me that isn't like the best cast ever! Okay, so maybe not, but it's great anyway!

Just saw the preview for Troy. It looks quite good, despite having a goofy looking Orlando Bloom in it. Why does he seem to be casted in all the good movies? I mean, it's not that I mind, except that he's not the greatest actor (though I think he might suit the role of Paris, Prince of Troy) and when I end up liking movies that he's in, pluckysquirrel gets to thinking that I like him. Um, no. No offense to anyone who is, but an Orli fangirl is the last thing I would be.
Anyway, Sean Bean is also in it (as Odysseus) but I didn't see him in the preview. Two LotR castmembers in one movie? And Brad Pitt? And the fact that I'm addicted to ancient Greek history and mythology? Must go see it. Pity it's only coming out next May.
EDIT: Also decided to watch the Hidalgo preview just for kicks. Whee. Viggo Mortensen with a Western accent is amusing.
Since we're on the note of LotR actors in other movies, I must say that all their training for LotR has really paid them off in other ways. Billy Boyd's swordsmanship was far superior to anyone else in MaC, atleast in the small clip of him fighting that was shown. :D
Sorry I'm obsessing so much. But I bought my RotK ticket today, so I'm naturally over-excited. *bounce bounce bounce*

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
We went over to the house of a family friend for dinner. It was a sort of party, I guess...there were about twelve people there altogether. I decided to be a helpful guest and assist in the kitchen - I didn't really feel like sitting around and socializing for two hours before dinner started.
Now I must say that my family doesn't really go much for traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I'm only first generation American, so we don't have any family traditions of Thanksgiving, and none of us really like turkey. So having a traditional Thankgiving dinner is pretty rare for us. The only traditional food that I really really like is mashed potatoes - I like them nicely whipped with lots of butter and salt, and nothing else whatsoever.
So here I am in the kitchen gazing at the freshly whipped potatoes in awe and hunger. Then the hostess brings over some salad greens and asks me to cut them up into little ribbons.
MY BRAIN: Please please please please please don't ask me to put them in the mashed potatoes when their done...
ME: *cut cut cut*
HOSTESS: Okay, now sprinkle some on top of the potatoes, just as a little garnish.
MY BRAIN: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
MY MOUTH: Okay, sure.
Well, luckily when I was eating the potatoes I was able to discreetly pick them out. But phew, that was a close call.
Now for some slightly more serious talk on Thanksgiving. I have a lot to be thankful for: my family, my friends, my fairly easy and pleasant life, and basically everything. But that's not really the reason that we don't celebrate Thanksgiving that much. I think in our hearts my family does like it and feels grateful. But the original reason for Thanksgiving makes me feel sad, because of course afterwards the descendants of the Pilgrims and other colonists completely repressed the Native Americans. So while we do feel thankful and appreciate our lives, the traditional Thanksgiving is kind of ironic and sad.
*yawns* Sleepy. Bed now. More later. Maybe.

Heh. Just watched the MTV Movie Awards thing for Gollum on TTT EE. I've never seen it before. Yes, I know I'm a deprived child - I just missed it when it was on TV. So of course I thought it was hilarious. And since I'm just a geek like that, I made an icon. I don't know if anyone's done it before, but oh well:

It appears that my public image is that of a friendly, talkative girl who can be a bit hyper at times, and is not always conventional in matters, but is nothing disturbing. However, lately it seems as if that is changing. My friend Rimia has commented countless times in the past year that I am utterly evil, and today discferret told me that I "sometimes scare" her and become "rather intimidating."
My thoughts on this matter:
Oh, shit. They're realizing my true nature. What if they come upon my plan for world domination? ALL WILL BE LOST!
Okay, keep calm. I'll just have to deal with it. This guise will hide me no longer - I shall have to assume the personality of a bubbly, stereotypical teenage girl on the Internet until I find some way to escape...
